Accessibility at Ravelin Sports Centre

We are passionate about being as inclusive as possible which is why accessibility is at the heart of Ravelin Sports Centre's design

At Ravelin Sports Centre we are incredibly conscious about making sure that our facility is as inclusive as possible. To guarantee that everyone can access our outstanding new sports centre, we have implemented a range of accessibility features. So, nothing can stop you from playing, training or competing here with us.

Accessibility at Ravelin Sports Centre

  • The entrance experience is welcoming and wheelchair accessible - level access through the landscape, wheelchair-accessible automatic revolving doors with powered pass door directly next to it for wheelchair access, wheelchair-accessible reception desk and lobbies are designed for wheelchair access. 
  • Getting around the centre - accessible lift including sports chair access and speed gates are wheelchair accessible.
  • Inclusive changing experience for a wide range of user groups including wheelchair users - level access, changing places, accessible vanity units and lockers and accessible WCs and showers. 
  • Sports hall - sports wheelchair access.
  • Pool - easy access steps into the pool and wheelchair platform access into the pool.
  • Climbing wall - disabled belay position to the climbing wall. 
  • Lighting levels - finishes and spaces are eligible for the visually impaired.
  • Induction loop - the centre caters to those with hearing impairments.

Not all internal doors are automated with push button access - this includes:

Basement
  • Door from lift area - pull door to enter
Ground floor
  • Gym entrance - pull door to enter
  • Swimming pool spectator area - pull door to enter
  • Dry change, toilets and access to the wet change/pool area - pull door to enter
  • Studios entrance door - pull door to open
First floor
  • Sports hall and viewing gallery - pull door to open
  • Group change - pull door to open
  • Teaching room door - pull door to open

 

Other areas of note:

  • Bouldering area not currently suitable for wheelchair access
  • Sports hall viewing gallery may not provide suitable viewing for wheelchair users​​​
