Ravelin Sports Centre car parking
Over 85 spaces for you to park at Ravelin Sports Centre throughout our opening hours
Parking at Ravelin Sports Centre couldn’t be easier, parking is monitored and managed through automatic number plate recognition which automatically recognises your car so you don’t need to remember what time you arrived. Payment machines are situated within the car park and you’ll need to know your number plate to access this, upon leaving enter your details into the payment machine and your charge will appear. There are limited spaces available with 88 spaces available for use including disabled bays and motorcycle bays, please ensure you park in an appropriately marked bay.
The car park will open and close 15 minutes before and after Ravelin Sports Centre opens and closes each day. Although the car park will open 15 minutes before we open, building access will only be permitted at our advertised opening times. Parking is not permitted overnight and your vehicle should be removed before the car park closes. Should you experience any issues outside of our opening times please contact the university security team on 023 9284 3418.
Associate Ultimate members, Public Ultimate members, Corporate members and those paying for swimming lessons will receive 90 minutes of free parking while using the facilities. You can collect your parking voucher from our reception team at any time before you leave the building. It is important to note that the 90-minute free parking period starts as soon as you enter the car park and finishes when you leave the car park, so please ensure you plan your time effectively. Our customer service team will check eligibility before providing the voucher, please ensure you only request this if you are eligible. You can of course stay longer than 90 minutes but the minimum charge of £3.20 will be applied as soon as you go over 90 minutes. As this is an automated system you should plan your visit effectively to avoid excess charges. Upon exiting the car park, you should enter your registration details on the payment machine and then scan your parking voucher to activate your free 90 minutes.
Our parking machines are card only, you can pay by card or by many other contactless methods. You can pay by phone if you do not have a 90-minute parking voucher. The charges, set centrally by the university are as follows:
- Up to 2 hours: £3.20
- Up to 3 hours: £4.20
- Up to 4 hours: £6.00
- Up to 5 hours: £7.00
- Up to 7 hours: £9.00
- Up to 9 hours: £12.00
- Up to 10 hours: £14.00
- Parking tariffs apply 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
The terms and conditions of the car park are displayed at multiple points around the car park with the pricing tariffs displayed on these notices. Please make sure you’re happy with these terms prior to using the car park. Although signage is in place we do require some updates to these terms, in particular the word ‘eligible’ in front of the Ravelin Sports Centre member's text.
Our university car parks and in particular the Ravelin Sports Centre is managed by Parking Eye who will be responsible for parking enforcement. We’re really keen to ensure that the car park is used appropriately and therefore we ask everyone to park within the marked bays only and only use disabled bays if you have a valid blue badge. Failure to do so may result in a parking charge notice being issued. A few other examples that will generate a parking charge notice being applied are not limited to but include:
- Parking in hatched areas
- Parking in a disabled bay without a blue badge
- Parking to block areas
- Parking over the course of multiple bays
- Parking on a double yellow
- Blocking emergency services access
- Parking on the access ramp to the car park
It is important to note that Ravelin Sports Centre and Sport and Recreation staff are unable to do anything about parking charge notices, the cost of parking or any charges raised against you based on the duration of your stay. While we know it is frustrating when a parking charge notice is received, please do not take your frustration out on our staff. Should you have queries regarding your parking charge notice please contact Parking Eye by telephone on 033 0555 4444 or through the Parking Eye online chat.
Due to the planning permission constraints of Ravelin Sports Centre university staff are unable to use the car park under their university permit. You are welcome to use the car park when using the facilities but will still be required to pay for the length of time you are here. You will need to enter your registration details on the payment machines upon your departure. If you have queries about your staff parking permit please contact car.parking@port.ac.uk.
As per the planning permission constraints, the car park is only to be used by visitors to the building.
