We understand that at times, unique situations can arise and we want you to feel confident that we're here to stand by you and support your welfare every step of the way.
During the many events of Varsity, if you or someone else is experiencing mental health difficulties or you need help, please approach any UOP Sport or SUSU member of staff and they will help you find a safe space with a mental health first aider.
Expectations of Ticket Holders & Players
UOP Sport enforces a zero-tolerance policy towards offensive behaviour at Varsity, including intoxication before games, harassment, discrimination, and the use of banned substances.
Violations of the Student Sport Code of Conduct will result in:
- Recording of student numbers
- Removal from the event
- Revocation of future access for alumni or non-University individuals
Additional actions may include club suspensions, loss of committee roles, or academic suspensions via the University's Student Conduct Policy, depending on the severity of the incident.
Southampton Varsity will conduct bag searches, and any alcohol found will be confiscated. Alcohol will be available for purchase on-site, and ticket holders must consume responsibly to avoid damaging Team UoP's reputation. Anyone found with banned substances or highly intoxicated will be removed from the event, face disciplinary action under the Student Sport Code of Conduct, and risk future Varsity access being revoked.
Reporting Negative Behaviour
If you see negative behaviour or hear offensive language and chants, please alert UOP Sport staff, Southampton staff and/or security staff immediately to help you.
We encourage all negative behaviours shown to be raised during our Team UoP Working Together Form under the complaints section, this is to protect the reputation of Team UoP and uphold the values we all hold as Team UoP members.
It's important to acknowledge that reporting negative behaviour can be a difficult decision to make, and you will be supported throughout this process by Sport and Recreation staff.
