- Students and staff who purchase our Ultimate will be able to access a network of over 70 university gyms nationwide
- Carry on with your training when you travel home during vacation time or during term time when visiting friends, helping to keep you active
- Have a meeting at a different university? Workout while you're there, remember staff can access BUCS UNIversal too
BUCS UNIversal is going from strength to strength with more universities joining each year, more than 50 have joined since it's inception. Keep training while away from Portsmouth, at no additional cost.
British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) is the national governing body for Higher Education sport in the UK. They support and promote the lifestyle and educational benefits to communities and individuals of taking part in sport, and provide outstanding opportunities to all students to engage in sport and related activity in higher education.

You'll need to register for a BUCS Play account. Once you've registered, you'll be able to search for us as your 'Home UNIversal Gym'. When you've found us, you'll be able to join our online community, and apply for your UNIversal membership. Once approved, you'll receive a confirmation email. This app will then be your new proof of membership when visiting other universities, and will be your go-to when booking UNIversal sessions.
Once you’ve activated your membership through BUCS Play, you’ll be able to use the BUCS Play website to search for our facility and book gym sessions. You’ll receive a confirmation email after making a booking, just bring this to reception when you arrive.
Access to the UNIversal scheme is for Ultimate members only. Speak to our reception team if you'd like to upgrade your membership, to make you eligible for this benefit.
All memberships are set to expire on 31st August (in line with the academic year). You'll have to re-apply every year, providing that you're still eligible.
Activities differ between universities - head to this page to see the services that each facility offers. At Ravelin Sports Centre, we will only be offering gym sessions for visiting users from other universities.
