We have a history of success with our previous scholars - check out their successes
Over the years, we have supported many athletes who have gone on to compete at the highest level, including winning Paralympic Gold. Here is a small selection of our high achievers.
One of our most recent high performance athletes is Lauren Steadman. Lauren is a graduate, a 4 time Paralympian, a triple World Champion, an 8 time European Champion in Paratriathlon whilst also achieving her degree and masters. She has also starred on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and Channel 4's Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. Lauren epitomises the support you can receive at the University of Portsmouth, while achieving high performance goals. Take a look below at some of our other sport scholarships over the years.
Finlay Morgan - Gymnastics
Sport and Exercise Science BSc (Hons)
- International level athlete
- Bronze medal at the British Championships 2021
- Selected to represent England to compete at the Northern Europeans Championships in November
- Signed to a German league team and competes in the Gymnastics Bundesliga
- Aims to continue to win medals domestically and gain experience in international competitions at senior level
Emily Niven - Judo

- International level athlete
- Ranked 3rd in the UK at Senior Level
- Gold at the English Senior Open 2022, Welsh Senior Open 2022, and Northern Irish Senior Open 2022
- Gold at Mierlo International 2022
- Gold at BUCS 2022 and represented the University of Portsmouth at the European University Games 2022
