Find out about the recent success of our Girls’ Night event
8 February 2023
It was truly amazing to see so many of you at our first ever Girls’ Night. We hope you used the opportunity to try something new, get involved and meet new people. We have learnt a lot from this event and hope to use this to take forward in the future for other engagement events.
As you’ll know if you attended the event, we have sent out a feedback form to find out a little bit about those who attended so we can determine if the event achieved what it set out to achieve, and to find out if you have any specific feedback too.
We thought we’d collate some of this information and share it.

Engaging females in sport and physical activity
As you are probably aware, the main purpose of the event was to engage more people who identify as female in sport and other physical activity. Many of our participants had never attended Ravelin Sports Centre before. When asked if they would recommend the event to a friend, we received the following responses.

Empowering females
Another aim of this event was to empower females to feel more confident when it comes to exercising. When asked about the biggest barrier to exercise 47.3% of responders said that it was ‘lack of confidence’ and 33% said they have ‘no one to go with’. It can be extremely daunting to make the first step in trying something new, particularly when you don’t have anyone to go with. Girls’ Night aimed to create a safe space for girls to exercise. Of those who responded to the feedback form 93.6% believed Girls’ Night created a safe space for girls to exercise.

Staying active
We hope that those who attended Girls’ Night have made the first step in staying active permanently, whether that is through continuing with the activities we offered at Girls’ Night or through other sports and activities. We asked participants how likely they are to continue with an activity tried as part of Girls’ Night, you can find an overview below.

Plans for future events
- In response to feedback and our own observations, we would make sure that we introduced a booking system that allowed participants to secure their spot on activities for future events of this type.
- If you enjoyed Girls’ Night, you may like our start of term event that we run in September. It’s called Give Me Sport and it is open for everyone of all abilities to try out new sports.
- We hope to run events similar to Girls’ Night in the future due to the great success it proved to be and the amazing feedback we have received. We will make sure we minimise the impact that events have on usual activity.
Thank you to everyone that came along and those who delivered sessions, we hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did. We hope to welcome you back to Ravelin Sports Centre soon.
