Ravelin Sports Centre is hosting three weeks of dynamic summer sports activities for kids aged 7 to 12. With a variety of sports utilizing our specialist facilities and expert staff, children can participate in activities like swimming, climbing, and more. Parents can choose flexible booking options, from single days to full weeks. Each day is structured with multiple activities, ensuring a fun and enriching experience for every child. Dates
Week One: 29 July - 2 August
Week Two: 12 - 16 August
Week Three: 19 - 23 August
Ages
7 - 12 year olds
Wherever possible children will be put into groups with children of similar age. A maximum of 40 children will be separated into 4 groups of 10 children with a qualified coach in charge of each activity. There will be a course leader overseeing the activities over the three weeks.
Cost
There are 2 options available £25 per day or £100 per week

Various venues will be used for the activities including:
- Swimming Pool
- Sports Hall
- Climbing Wall
- Squash Courts
Sign In/Sign Out and lunch will all take place upstairs in the Sports Hall

Summer Junior Sports Activities
Introduction to Badminton led by nationally ranked player and qualified coach. Fun skills and games working on hand-eye coordination
Introduction to Basketball led by qualified UoP coach. Fun skills and mini-sided games with an emphasis on fun!
Children will experience both the climbing wall and the bouldering wall. Learning how to use the belay and introducing them to the NICAS accredited award that focuses on basic climbing skills. Led by qualified Ravelin climbing instructors.
Get your body moving with a Street Dance workout. Led by an experienced Dance instructor who has years of experience working in schools across Portsmouth.
Take part in the new Born to Move fitness programme led by Ravelin Sports Centre instructors. Child-appropriate fitness-based activities will work on the core fitness components in a fun environment.
The Gymnastics session will introduce fundamental movement skills and the basics of rolling, jumping, travelling and core skills through fun activities.
Take part in a range of indoor games including target activities of Boccia and New Age Kurling and more high-tempo games including Dodgeball and Capture the Flag.
Sportshall Athletics-based activities will be introduced including running, jumping and throwing and will include opportunities to compete as both individuals and in teams.
Take part in the Nerf Gun Wars led by an external event organiser and supported by Ravelin Sports Centre staff. Children will be put into teams and will combat against each other
An introduction to Roundnet also known as Spikeball led by an international player who is taking part in the World Championships on 26 August! Roundnet is a cross between Volleyball and Squash based on reactions and will be played 1:1 and 2v2.
The swimming activity will incorporate an assessment of ability, some skill development and a range of water-based games and activities
The Trampolining session will be led by a qualified coach and as there will be 2 trampolines, the children will have an excellent activity: rest ratio. Learn the basic jumps, how to land correctly and the correct etiquette on the equipment to keep you safe while having fun!
