Give Back with Our Reverse Advent Calendar and Festive Activities
December has arrived, and with it, the season of advent calendars. While some indulge in calendars filled with chocolates, make-up, or even socks, we at Ravelin Sports Centre are turning the tradition on its head with the Reverse Advent Calendar.
This initiative is all about celebrating the true meaning of the festive season: giving instead of receiving. It’s a simple concept—each day in December, you put aside a small donation to help someone in need. Together, we can make a difference for local charities and bring smiles to those who need it most.
The Reverse Advent Calendar
From now until Sunday, December 15, you can drop off donations at the collection box at the Ravelin Sports Centre reception.

Who You’ll Be Helping
Your generosity will go a long way to bring joy and support this Christmas:
- Buckland Soup Kitchen will distribute food and toiletries to those in need, making day-to-day life a little easier.
- Pompey in the Community will provide gift sets to young carers, ensuring they receive something special this Christmas.
- URBOND Youth Charity will use toy donations to ensure every child they support gets a gift on Christmas Day.
Every donation, no matter how small, helps spread kindness and care. Thank you for making this possible!
Team UOP Clubs: How to Get Involved
- Each club assigns a donation captain (could be your RAG sec) responsible for gathering items at training sessions.
- Coaches or captains transport donations to the central collection point at Ravelin Sports Centre reception (or anyone can donate at any time)
Christmas Jumper Day (and Week!)
This holiday season, we’re spreading cheer and making a difference with Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday, December 12 - and for our sports club members, wear your best Christmas outfit during your training sessions throughout the whole week from Monday 9 December to Sunday 15 December!
Whether you’re visiting Ravelin Sports Centre or attending a club training session, wear your most festive Christmas jumper or holiday outfit to get into the seasonal spirit. Clubs can also showcase their creativity by sharing photos and videos of their team in festive gear on social media. The most creative and spirited club will win a fantastic prize!
But it’s not just about looking good—it’s about doing good, too. We’re raising funds for a great cause, and you can join in by donating online HERE or by scanning a QR code at reception during the week.
