University of Portsmouth students and alumni came together this weekend for the second alumni cup. Building on the success of the inaugural event last year, over 150 current students and graduates competed against each other in a packed programme of sport.

The Alumni Cup this year took place across Ravelin Sports Centre and HMS Temeraire to give Varsity feels to those taking part. With alumni arriving as defending champions after last year’s victory, the event delivered as promised with a lively, fun and well natured competition.

The split of attendees was fairly evenly spread with 51% of attendees graduates, either showing their experience or suggesting they might not be up to it. How wrong could we be? Very.

The Alumni team came to win, and that they did with a clean sweep across all 7 sports. The Alumni retain the cup after a resounding 21-0 victory. The victory shows that experience will get you everywhere.

There were some close fought match ups across the day (but also some not-so-close fixtures) check out all the scores below.

Fixture Students score Alumni score
Ultimate Frisbee 4 15
Fencing 88 110
