We’re taking over Ravelin Sports Centre to celebrate movement, confidence, and community in a welcoming space for women, trans women, non-binary and those who align with womanhood.
What is The Takeover?
For the past few years, Girls’ Night has been a much‑loved event built around connection, community, and feeling comfortable being yourself. It has welcomed women, trans women, non‑binary people, and anyone who aligns with womanhood into a relaxed, supportive space for ages 16+.
After reflecting on the name and listening to feedback, we wanted to ensure the event clearly represents our commitment to inclusion. While the values and purpose of the event remain exactly the same, we felt it was important that the name could not be misinterpreted and fully reflected the welcoming atmosphere we aim to create.
This is why Girls’ Night is now called The Takeover.
The Takeover is the same event you know and love, just with a new name. By removing gender from the headline, we can be clear in each event description about who the space is for, while also giving us flexibility to support different communities and wellbeing initiatives in the future.
For this event, The Takeover continues to be for women, trans women, non‑binary people, and anyone who aligns with womanhood. This will always be communicated openly and transparently.

After reflecting on the name and listening to feedback, we wanted to ensure the event clearly represents our commitment to inclusion. While the values and purpose of the event remain exactly the same, we felt it was important that the name could not be misinterpreted and fully reflected the welcoming atmosphere we aim to create.
Yes. Everything you love about the event is still here - the atmosphere, activities, and sense of community. The only change is the name.
For this event, The Takeover is open to women, trans women, non-binary people, and anyone who aligns with womanhood. This will always be clearly stated in the event description.
Students, university staff, and members of the local community aged 16 and over are welcome.
The Takeover is designed to be flexible. While this event continues to support women-aligned communities, the format allows us to create future takeovers for different groups, wellbeing themes, or awareness activities - with each event clearly stating who it’s for.
We want everyone to feel comfortable and supported. If you have specific access needs or would like to talk to us about how we can make the event more welcoming for you, please get in touch - we’re happy to help.
