Welcome to the Wash Up – the home of the best of the weekend action from the University of Portsmouth's competitive sports teams from the world of BUCS and beyond.

We start with a resurgent Futsal, who for the second week running recorded wins for both their BUCS teams in league action, at Spinnaker on Sunday. Men's 1sts were more ruthless than Lil Tijay, as they dominated their match against Brighton 2nds, running out winners by an incredible 21-1 scoreline. Man of the Match, Tonye Sotonye, led the way with an impressive 4 goals, with James Douglas scoring a second consecutive hat-trick following his treble last Sunday at Brunel. Jamie Fraser also got himself a hat-trick with Argemiro Sassa, Sam Johnson, Tom Porter and Marwan Kisserwan all bagging braces to prove that Pompey's bite was just as strong as their bark. Further goals from Josh Barrett, Benjamin Chevreau and a proud Captain, Patryk Cekus, added the gloss to an emphatic scoreline. Assists on the day came from Sassa [2] Barrett [2] Douglas [2] Porter [2] Kisserwan [2] Matthews [2] Fraser [1] Chevreau [1] Cekus [1] and Keeper, Hall [1]. This win sees the 1sts stay out on top in SE2A, holding a 3 point lead over Brunel going into the break, before they return to take on Kingston on the 3rd of November.

Men's 2nds had set the tone for the 1sts goalfest earlier in the day with an impressive result of their own, beating Westminster 1sts 12-3, to consolidate their position as leaders of SE3A. Marcus Cashinella was named Man of the Match after a superb hat-trick, Cormac McAinsh and Lopen Louis grabbed two goals apiece with Captain, Alex Mills, Tima, Andrea Xuereb, Aaron Dale and Jacques Wheeler netting the others. Abdulla Alharami ran the show for the 2nds claiming 3 assists on the day, with Ollie Conaghan [2] Xuereb [1] McAinsh [1] and Dale [1] providing the killer passes to set the seal on a superb victory for the 2nds, who travel to New Bucks in a fortnight as they look to continue their excellent start to the season.

On Friday, Men's Football 3rds and 4ths played out an entertaining 2-2 draw under the lights at Langstone. Joe Richardson put in a Man of the Match performance for the 4ths as they secured a valuable point in their quest for promotion to the Third Tier. Ben Manning laid on Azeez Elegushi for a tidy finish and an O.G completed the scoring for the 4ths on the night, as they draw level with Brighton at the top of SE4A. They travel to Chichester in the SE Conference Cup this Wednesday whilst the 3rds travel to Brighton in their quest for cup glory.

Thanks for joining us for the Wash Up to celebrate what was another fantastic weekend for Futsal, who will be looking to emulate Guy Fawkes and light up the BUCS Futsal programme with yet more explosive performances throughout November.
