Club coaching philosophy
Our primary focus is to deliver engaging, innovative coaching within a player centred, positive learning environment that our members immerse themselves in. All age groups follow their own specific year round syllabus which enables us to compartmentalise the players learning into distinct learning blocks, with a focus on a particular theme for example 1 vs 1 attacking. All sessions are based on the Football Associations ‘Four Corner’ model our coaches give when planning your son or daughters technical/tactical, psychological, physical and social development. We firmly believe that every child should have the right to play football and in turn enjoy being able to develop to the level their ambition desires. We aim to support your child in achieving this by creating a positive, fun, safe and player-centred learning environment.
The Portsmouth Football Pathway
The Portsmouth Football Pathway is a collaboration between Soccer Scholar Academy and the University of Portsmouth Community Football Club. We offer opportunities for young children to play football recreationally and competitively, while providing exit routes in coaching and education. We aim to ensure players have additional options outside of their playing ambitions. SSA offer weekly recreational sessions for 2 – 11 yr olds, and cater for those who want to play competitive football through their U7s – U10s teams, while UoP manage teams from U11s – U16s and also have a focus on getting girls into football.
If you are looking for football opportunities in an age group that UOP CFC don’t cater for, please contact Laura who will be able to put you in contact with the right person.
If you would like your child to get involved with the club, please contact Shannon (for children between 2 – 11 years old) or Laura (for children between 11 – 16 years old).
